Longest Married Couple in Illinois Still in Love 73 Years Later — (February 15, 2012)
Alden of Waterford Continuing Care Retirem ent Community’s Dale, 100, and Doris, 91, Chatfield were recently recognized for 73 years of marriage by the State of Illinois and Chicago-Gary Diocese for World Wide Marriage Encounter. The happy couple is the state winner of the annual Longest Married Couple Project sponsored by Worldwide Marriage Encounter.

Strengthening Our Nursing Homes’ Act Becomes Law — (November 29, 2011)
Madison, Wis. — Elizabeth Brunner, vice president of operations for Alden Management Services, played a key role in the enactment of a new law designed to help nursing homes in Wisconsin provide quality care to their residents.

Alden’s Chief Operating Officer Appointed to State Board — (October 26, 2011)

Chicago, Ill. — During The Center for Developmental Disabilities Advocacy and Community Supports (The Center) annual meeting in Springfield, Wayne resident Robert J. Molitor was sworn in as a member of the Board of Directors. Molitor is the Chief Operating Officer at Alden Management Services in Chicago.  

Quack For a Cause — (October 4, 2011)

Aurora, Ill. – Over $13,000 was raised at the 3rd Annual Alden of Waterford Duck Race benefiting the Donald Davidson-Alan Brin Memorial Chapter of the Leukemia Research Foundation. Aurora Mayor Tom Weisner, Naperville Mayor A. George Pradel, Oswego Village President Brian LeClercq and Senator Linda Holmes joined over 300 attendees at the event.

3rd Annual Duck Race Benefitting Leukemia Research - Come out and cheer on 4,000 ‘rubber ducky’s’ for a good cause! — (August 30, 2011)

Aurora, Ill. – Last year, over 300 people attended the 2nd Annual Alden of Waterford Duck Race benefiting the Donald Davidson-Alan Brin Memorial Chapter of the Leukemia Research Foundation. The 2nd Annual Duck Race raised over $25,000.

Aurora Resident Selected as “Hero in Long-Term Care” — (August 22, 2011)

Aurora, Ill. — Aurora resident Ancelma (Anna) Varela was recently selected a “hero” in long-term care by the Health Care Council of Illinois.

Honoring Those Who Serve — (August 3, 2011)

Aurora, Ill. –The Alden of Waterford Continuing Care Retirement Community in Aurora hosted dozens of service men and women at a Veterans Breakfast, followed by a Health Fair on the 38-acre campus.

ALDEN GATORS PLAY ‘HOOPS FOR THE TROOPS’ — (June 15, 2011)

Aurora, Ill. – The Alden Gators basketball team played in the recent Hoops for the Troops fund-raiser, hosted by the Fox Valley Marines in Aurora. All proceeds from the event went to benefit homeless veterans.

ALDEN HOLDS FIRST NURSING SKILLS FAIR — (April 19, 2011)

Addison, Ill. (March 23, 2011) — Over 100 nurses and nurse aides from Alden Rehabilitation and Health Care Centers received comprehensive, hands-on training at Alden’s first Nursing Skills Fair designed to ensure competencies in both basic and advanced clinical nursing skills.
